The Beginning.
In 1866 Jonathan Fuchs became friends with King Ludwig. They've joked around about making their own candy company, but in 1870 they actually created one. They named it Psst, after Jonathan's cat, that is why the logo is a cat. Two years later they came out with their first candy, "Psst". They had to hand make each piece of candy, because there wasn't any technology to help them. The company became a huge success.
Process.
"Psst" became a huge success. People gave ideas to Jonathan and Ludwig for candies. They may have ignored the fact that they gave perfect ideas, but they did realize they needed new types of candies. They then created "Patty Cake" and "Pudding Pop" in 1890. "Patty Cake" is a chocolate shell, with a thin line of mint. Inside of this delicious shell is gooey caramel. "Pudding Pop" is a rich pudding center, with a think chocolate square on a stick. All three of these candies became well known and loved candies.
Later.
On June 13, 1886, King Ludwig died. In honor of the king, Jonathan created a candy called "Crazy King Ludwig", which was released and sold in 1888. After his death, Jonathan decided to put all his time into creating candy. "Crazy King Ludwig" is the shape of the Neuschwanstein castle. This castle was King Ludwig's family castle which was built in 1869, but was never completely finished. The Neuschwanstein castle is in Füssen, which is where the company is located.
